Great race, managed to achieve PB, Be careful with your pace, it's very hilly!  I ran out of steam in the last mile because I tried to maintain my pace up all the hills.  It helps to memorise the route because when everyone's lining the way near the big house at 12 miles you speed up and then forget there's another 1.2 miles to go!  Ouch! Highly recommended though!

Nice enough race - lots of climbs - not flat at all. Not the best medal at the end but good surrounds to run in. If the race is local give it a go. They let the 10k runners go just as the main bulk of HM runners were approaching final 2km - awful decision basically ended up walking the last section when trying for a final push.

Registration: I signed up about 2 weeks before the event and had no problems, race pack arrived promptly about 5 or 6 day before the event. 

Arrival: Blenheim is always busy at the weekends so is worth allowing plenty of extra time to cue to get in and then park up. 

Positives: Blenheim is a beautiful place to run around, the course is challenging with a few decent hills to push up yet still offering an excellent even running surface. The support from other Blenheim visitors was nice and I thought the atmosphere was excellent. The finish of the race is spectacular as you cross the bridge and sprint towards the palace with a lot of support cheering you on. A lovely way to spend a morning.

Water station at 5k was good and I thought the course marshalls all around were excellent and very encouraging. There was also a free tech t shirt which you don't always get these days. I didn't bother getting one as I never use them but plenty of people did. 

Negatives: The start pen was an undeniable problem. It was far too small for that amount of runners. There was a huge cue for portaloos (although no cue for the inside loos which weren't sign posted sadly) and by the time I got back the pen was completely full. I could see pacers for 70 minutes a long way ahead which was concerning bearing in mind I wanted to do it about 20 minutes faster than that. This meant that for the first 2 miles there was A LOT of bobbing and weaving and not just by me, I'd say 50% of the people I started with all were pushing to get further up the field. This was made worse by the fact that the path was about as wide as a single track road. It was tricky but after about a mile and a half I seemed to be with a group doing similar pace and we started to overtake people less frequently. Although not a huge problem it was annoying and could have simply been solved with more pre race organisation and proper time pens rather than everyone mixing in together.

The medal was undoubtedly a bit cheap too, shame it makes no mention of the event it was from but worse things have happened.

Also worth noting that on Strava it only came out at 9.8 or 9.9km. 

Overall I definitely don't feel as cheated as the other 2 reviewers here. It was a lovely race with beautiful surroundings. It's a bit congested and could benefit from better organisation but overall a very pleasant run. Not a good one for the bling hunters and if I were to run again (which I may well do) I would just ensure I got there much earlier and got to a more sensible place in the start pen (or maybe just in it at all). No problems parking or getting out afterwards. All very smooth for me. 

Packs arrived late, if the arrived at all. Which meant having to go for registration any way to pick up. Lots of people didn't get their packs, meaning a lot of waiting around between getting packs and race start.

Text received after the course to say I had completed in 56 mins even though my watch said 1;06. After checking the results it seems the time for 56 minured belongs to Kelly Collins (me) but registered as male, under another race number of 1198. My race number 1196 is register to Emily Collins but has the correct time of 1;06, knowing this to be correct as I came across the line with my sister who is also at this time!

Also people who did not even arrive and take part in the race got a text to say their time was 1;21???? 

The medal was shockingly awful, especially for the half a milers.

The queues for the toilets were ridiculous at times and the getting out of Blenheim was appalling! 

The whole organisation was terrible and for £25 I would expect better, I would like to be considered for a refund of this as I could of just turned up and ran alongside the runners for cheaper and got better from it, as this was also open to public.......

You have given Blenheim and BHF events a bad name and would seriously reconsider booking via you again

I entered the 10K, my husband the half. He got his race pack no problem - mine didn't arrive. I fed this back to BHF on their Facebook page, who assured me it had been sent out and would be with me within the next 4/5 days. It didn't arrive. I messaged them again, and hey presto! A pack arrived within a few days. One of the people I entered with never received his pack, despite entering in good time, messaging BHF twice - had to pick his pack up on the day and was given someone else's race number & chip!

Seems odd that the half marathon started at 9:30 and the 10K started at 11:00am. I had 90 minutes to wait until my race - everywhere else I have run that offers multiple distances, the races are staggered by 10 or 15 minutes, entirely understable. But 90 minutes? And then, the 10K start funnel was really tiny and congested - not good if you are uncomfortable in small, cramped spaces.

Once we started, seemed like there was a never ending stream of runners - on a narrow course. Lots of elbows and heels to be tripped over, the field never felt like it thinned out.

The medal at the end was very poor - the same one for the 10K and the half, looks like a plastic medal for a fun race. Lots of folks had one from a race at York or Harewood House???

The worse bit? Leaving at the end - some people had sat for over 1 hour to get out of the parking area, the venue only had one gate open for 1000's of cars to exit??? 

Running around Blenheim is exceptionally pretty, and helping raise money for a worthy charity is fab. I think the BHF need to think more about how they organise these events, from start to finish.

I would not do this race again.
