My first multi sport event (after supporting my husband numerous times) and the castle series is always so inclusive. The swim was a slightly complicated M course but well marshalled, I never felt confused. Every marshall needs a huge thank you, everyone was just super friendly and helpful. Bike course was great, the hill and detour was all doable and well communicated. Medal area had fab selection of post event fuel. Also, really nice that there was female only loos with period items available if that's what you needed.

Fantastic event, exceptionally well organised and low key, relaxed at the same time. The welcome and instructions from arrival were perfect, all questions answered. Transition was well laid out with plenty of space, for your required kit, bag drop close by. Swim was murky, water quality despite not being able to see much was pretty good, the boys were super east to sight and the preface briefing was spot on. Bike course was good, fairly quite but on open roads, no problems passing, a few minor potholes but nothing to bad, there was a route change which was very sign posted. The finishing Shute was excellent plenty of snacks, toffee waffles were most welcome, the malt load was a bit crispy! Great event, already signed up for next years. Massive thanks to all the helpers and Marshalls.

Excellent pre race brief, both online and in person by the swim start (although I still saw a fast swimmer miss the red buoy on the 3rd lap and therefore take a short cut…didn’t see any kayakers pointing out their error although there were plenty around ) Water wasn’t very clear due number of competitors over the day churning up the soil etc from the bottom, I’ve swam in worse but it wasn’t the clearest. I will echo the point raised by many, it’s too far from swim to transition. Marshals were all friendly and helpful (despite being rather wet from the horrendous downpour during the morning) I found the bike course a challenge but that was mainly because of the huge puddles. Overall a really well organised event.

Thanks for your thoughtful feedback! We're really glad you found the briefings helpful and the event well organised, even with the weather challenges. We'll definitely review the buoy spotting and swim-to-transition distance, as well as pass on your kind words to our soaked-but-smiling marshals. Thanks again for being part of the day!

We are aiming to complete the full castle series. Firstly, I asked to change event due to an injury and was able to 2 days before the actual event. Belvoir castle unfortunately it doesn't start/finish or even run or cycle through the castle, you can only see it in the distance, so for that reason it is my least favourite castle. I liked there was a female only portaloo with sanitary products and a great positive message. A couple more of them would be great. The swim I think due to the amazing hot and dry weather we've been having (that went awol for the weekend) had to be 3 laps, and you could tell it's because the water was so shallow, so it's great they found a way for us to still do it. It was super weedy, again I think the weather's fault but I didn't love that! The transition is soo long and pot holey and cause of the rain a bit of a slip and slide, so I'm glad I wasn't going for a good time! Love that the bike is all one loop, it's mostly well signposted but there it started with showing every km and then all of a sudden it was every 5 or 10 and I wondered if I'd gotten lost. So a heads up that that would happen could be an idea. No portaloos on bike route, which I didnt need but saw some wild wees. Other cyclists dumping their bottles or gels (especially on the hill) annoyed me as it was nowhere near marshalls. Marshalls were all fab, even in the torrential rain they were so cheery and helpful. I've never done aqua bike before, I enjoyed not having to do the run after! But it was an anticlimactic ending where you rack your bike, walk out when ready to then run the final 50m of the run to the finish line to get your medal. It little more hype or medals where you finish would be my preference. The snacks are always amazing though. We always love the vibe at the castle series and like to stay for food and drinks, but the weather meant we just left ASAP. The medals were different this year and love the strap had the event name and year on so it differentiates between events and years! I don't love that as a spectator who is competing on the other day you are still made to pay to get in. General spectators yes. But I think the castle triathlons are more expensive than any others I've done for Olympic distances so to pay extra to support friends another day feels a lot. Especially as we travel quite far and spend a lot to do these! Generally though, if you're thinking of doing a triathlon, the castle series are great. So many events for everyone and it always feels busy. Lovely people, well organised events and always always scenic, which takes the egde of the discomfort of the challenge.

Thanks so much for your detailed and thoughtful feedback—it’s really appreciated. Great to hear you're aiming to complete the full Castle Series and that you’ve found the events welcoming and well-organised, even with the challenges Belvoir brought this year! We’ll definitely take on board your points about visibility of the castle on the course, signage consistency on the bike, and creating a more rewarding finish for Aquabike participants. It’s also useful to hear your thoughts on practical touches like female-only toilets and the long transition—thank you for highlighting those. Wishing you the best for the rest of the series—and hopefully better weather next time!

Being local I’ve been put off the event previously through WOM reviews on the quality of the water, however I was pleasantly surprised to find it mostly clear and no weedier then various local lakes. My only complaint was the swim hats were on the small side and didn’t cater for long hair. Despite the weather being far from ideal it turned to be a fantastic event, well marshalled and sign posted in a great location

After a few Aquabike races over the last 3 years, the Castle Series stands out as the best organised by a good way. Lots of staff, very efficient process, good briefings, it all feels reliable. The only slight question mark stands over the Belvoir swim course, fitting 1500m into a small lake meant 3 laps round a tight W shaped course, so there was plenty of practice rounding buoys. Of course, this isn't necessarily bad, it just added another test to the swim. Because there is a stream of events, athletes arriving, competing and leaving all the time, there's a great atmosphere which doesn't dissipate in the way a smaller event does. Thanks to all who made it happen, my two sisters were in the Aquabike too, and running across the line together was a great family moment we'll all remember.

Enjoyed swim although when aiming for the finish a bit of collision with swimmers heading right to the red buoy. A long transition to my bike was uneven specially for a non runner. Scenic bike enjoyable, even the 'hill' 👍 Road surface not ideal coming back into the park and potholes not marked. No mention coming over the finish line and no age group winners being recognised. There were in other races! The highest age group was 60+. No mention of 70+ and there were participants in this age range. It would have been great to have stood on the podium with or without a prize. I am an inspirational 75 year old who didn't walk the hill.

The event was well organised with plenty of facilities for participants and spectators alike. For me, all was good except for running out of fluids at the end - in the briefing, we were told that there was a feeding station at one location and then a water station later on. I might have taken a drink from the feeding station but they weren't looking my way as I went by so I decided to keep going to the promised water station but it didn't exist! By then, I had barely any of my own water left and was gasping. It was a struggle to get to the end on such a hot day. The water and snacks at the end were essential for recovery and were, thankfully, plentiful.

My first Aquabike and really enjoyed it in glorious weather. The downside was the swim course had far too many turns and twists which created too much congestion at every buoy and although the water was warm you could not see an inch as it was chocolate brown with far too many weeds. At one point I actually had a hair net of green weed on my face! . The finish after the Mike was not relayed clearly enough! I finished what I thought was the race racked my bike and walked out of transition collecting my bag before someone actually told me you need to go back through transition and through the finish line adding at least 6 minutes into my time! That needs sorting and communicating much better. S
