Friendly and relaxed race. There were sections that were so steep and slippery that i couldn't envision anybody running up or down them. But i guess some superhuman do.

I had previously run the routes of this event covering the marathon, half marathon and ultra routes, so the 10K was the last one to try. This race is always really well organised with a good bag drop area, decent toilet facilities, good hydration and food provided (especially at the finish) and nice medals, so it is good value. The location makes it a very challenging run, whatever distance you are covering, but the views can be spectacular, even when the weather is shocking like it threatened to be on this occasion. Thankfully the wind just about allowed me to stay on my feet, and the reception you get from the volunteers throughout but especially near the end really helps you on your way.

That was one to remember. Brilliant course, marshalling, organisation and aid station, appalling weather in places but with the spectacular views and wonderful camaraderie it just added to the experience. Can't thank the marshals enough who stood through it all cheering and encouraging every single runner. jogger and walker. Will most likely be back next year once I have forgotten the knee pain

What a fantastic trail half marathon. This is a must-do if you love beautiful tough unique courses. A special thank you to the marshal team and organisers who create this great event in our town. Some supportive feedback: + Some sustainability initiatives visible but the team could really lead the way by providing plant-based pasties and rolls + This may be impossible with logistics but having a start-time that makes public transport an option for those travelling further afield (or buses to startline) + The course wasn't as clearly marked as previous years. I ran in front pack and three times we went off course, with one bonus hill near the lighthouse. My local knowledge meant I didnt mind but it was a funny experience for those running for 1st time and led to some grumblings. 9.5/10 for me and I wouldn't miss it.

Great event, been meaning to do for years and it didn’t disappoint. Well organised, loads of checkpoints and loads of marshals all very supportive on a difficult day. The course is spectacular and fairly testing with rolling hills throughout but nothing too technical. Nice to use the pool after a race and be supplied with a meal however my potato was cold. Would highly recommend the event.

I love Beachyhead marathon. 2022 was my 10th and although I decided before that it would be my last, I signed up again for next year. The weather is everything on this hilly marathon. I've done it in sunshine in shorts and vest through to gales and torrential rain. Be prepared! The views are spectacular, particularly on the Seven sisters and as Cuckmere Haven comes into view as you exit Friston Forest. As this is a big trail marathon there is a lot of spectator support in the villages. I love the sound of the Bagpiper who plays as we head up the hill at the start. I also like the bands who have played to us each year at the 16 mile aid station. This year I heard there were vegan sausage rolls at this aid station. Shame, I didn't know in advance so I missed them. I think there was orange squash at one aid station only and water at the others. This is a shame and could be improved. A bit of sugary liquid works wonders for tired bodies. Love the jacket potato and baked beans and coffee/tea at the end. Knowing it will be there really helps me get up the last of the hills. The downhill finish is the best and I always try to sprint to the finish with my last bit of energy

Expect the unexpected!! Beachy Head Marathon & her Seven Ugly Sisters .. the big hill at the start should give it away it’s not a flat race Haha .. Great Atmosphere around the course however as it’s a mass start it’s congested for about first 5 miles. Really could do with a staggered start or the Ultra runners go off first. As for toilets or none existing at the start, no where near enough as a lot of us were still in the queue at 8:00 start! Course is really well Marshalled plenty of signage although no mileage markers, would be good occasionally so you know how much further the pain is to Finish! Checkpoints or Feedstations a bit under nourished with just water available.. Mars bars and biscuits on every stop, could have done with at least one Checkpoint having Coke Cola and Chrisps as alternate it’s a tough course and especially for anyone completing the Ultra, need a bit more than Water! Lovely Medal More Water to Finish or head to nearest Pub plenty around! Didn’t use the bag drop or facilitates at the School as managed to park nearby., a great idea if you are needing to drop items off and you can use the Swimming Pool after!

So this was my first time taking part in Beachy half, having previously completed the 10k and marathon in previous years gone by. This was a 8am start so a very early start for us, but the bag drop was very quick and easy and the race started on time. The first few miles are slow due to the hills at the start but it soon flattens out and has potential for a great half time. From about mile 8 I was soaked to the bone, wetter than a otters pocket... but we kept together and made out way to the finish albeit a bit wet. The aid stations on route were really good, vegan snack, vegan sausage rolls, vegan pasties, mars bars, banana + water. Hot showers were available in the school at the end which was fab... A Really well organised race, good value for money and a few hills.. what is not to like?

This is one of my favourite races! The route is stunning, but be prepared for the weather to make things difficult at times. 2021 was the exception to this, with such still conditions it was hard to believe it was the same race as in 2020 (which was held on a very stormy weekend). The weather still had a hand in 2021 though, as flooding necessitated a route change to two loops of a half marathon course rather than the usual full marathon loop. There was concern around this announcement the day before the race, but on the day the race was seamless and I didn't mind seeing the same views twice. The Covid precaution of a wave start from last year was replaced by the usual rolling start, with the initial steep ascent up the hill out of Eastbourne to the strains of a bagpiper, a tradition I love. Being a 'back of the packer' I learned from previous experience that the vegan goodies at the aid stations and finish can be used up before I get there, so I carried my own supplies for the race. The tables looked pretty well stocked as I made my way through nonetheless, and the marshalls were all on fantastic form. The stunning scenery during this race is well worth the work put into climbing the hills, and the medals are well designed too. Food is provided afterwards at the local school, or there are plenty of pubs to choose from :-D

So this race was changed from a big loop on the friday to a 2 loop circuit due to flooding, so this is my idea of hell as I hate loops and had serious thoughts about not doing it as I just hate loops

The race is easy to navigate to, the start was on time 8:00am
A rolling start which was good.

The route was not what we were expecting so it was different to normal.

The feed stations had water, banana, sosig rolls (no vegan option) mars bars so a limited range if I am honest. water stations were very few and far between, could of done with a few more.
The support was fab as it always is with this marathon.

Did i mention i hate loops.......... i still hate loops

The medal at the finish was rather basic and pants.  just a bottle of water when you finish, no thought into something different like a shake or can of coke.

The food in school canteen was just a jacket potato and x2 sausages (no veggie option)

Overall the race was not what I signed up for hence the lack of stars.
