top value for money here! The race is small but friendly, brilliantly marshalled (huge support given when they must have been freezing various bits off) and offers a beautiful course, even with snow blowing in sideways! The route itself, through closed country lanes, is mildly undulating but with a longer, steeper climb from 7-8k. You get the remainder downhill so it’s all worth it! 

If that’s not enough, you are greeted at the end with a decent medal and tables full of tasty cake. I rest my case, the race is a keeper!

I ran this race last year as a last minute thing with a friend who fancied a race at the weekend. I enjoyed it so much I came back this year and dragged the other half along for the ride. 

This year, same course, same person, slightly colder weather and now I’m carrying a baby on board! Despite the cold, blustery and snowy/wet conditions, plus the fact I’m finding running much harder now that growing a new human is consuming all my energy lately, I managed to get round just 2 mins slower than last year. 

Logistics wise, the car park is a short walk from the race village and the start line a short 5 min walk from the race village. The course itself is through closed country lanes mildly undulating with the expection of a longer incline at around 7- 8K. It’s really pretty, winding through fields and little villages with the odd pocket of locals out on their driveways cheering you along. The last 1-2K is greatfully downhill and leads to a nice faster finish if you’ve got it left to give! 

i have to give a shout out to the marshals because the weather was frankly hideous, super cold, super windy and either snowing or raining, they deserve a medal for standing out in it! 

The only slight complaint I had was I was bursting for the loo thanks the the pregnancy situation and with no loos on the course made the second half quite uncomfortable, but most ‘normal people’ can manage a 10k without a pit stop so not a deal breaker in my eyes!  

All in all great race, nice medal and much appreciation for the homemade cakes at the end! I think I’ll probabky be back again next year! Nice work guys!!
