Amazing course and support, everything was top-notch. Can’t wait to race again next year!

The decision to send runners onto the beach section where the water was at least waist deep, with waves almost taking people off their feet, with no Marshall, was definitely questionable. Great route though, great winter ultra and would do again!

The event could have been good but the route was so muddy it was impossible to run, caused bottle necking and was not an enjoyable route as a result of conditions. The transport was also late.

This was my 4th time doing this event. Usually I really enjoy it, but this year partially because of the conditions - it was very muddy and very windy - I did not. Given the conditions it would have been supportive to have had some more Marshalls on the course. There was also a lot of bottlenecks as the half marathon and the 10k were on the course - a narrow coast path - at the same time. This hasn’t happened before and was frustrating, as I kept getting stuck. I didn’t run the marathon course, but was concerned that they didn’t reroute the first bit (which would have been easy to do) as the tide was high and runners were running through breaking waves. It’s a lovely course and Endurancelife do some great events, this just didn’t seem to be as well thought through as they usually are.

The organisation and event facilities were well arranged. The route well marked and fuelling stops well stocked. The encouragement from the helpers fantastic. The route great. The weather on the day was extremly windy mostly dry and outside of the organisers control. There was one bottleneck within the first mile. A short beach section. Due to the strong wind and high tide meant we had an early dip. For some waste high. Maybe the early section of this run should have had a dry route option. Prior wet weather and the shher number of runners on the coastal section has left the path very muddy. The most aggressive trail shoes should be used on this occasion.

After only really partaking in road races up until this point, I was keen to venture into the off-road and this was certainly a baptism of fire! We were extremely lucky with the weather but I've heard on previous occasions that it has been very wet; to be expected in December I suppose! The course is stunning and it'll be hard to find my next race that will match the views that this event offers.

The course is extremely challenging with very steep up and downhills. The ups can only really be walked and I would recommend plenty of hill training ahead of the event to aid recovery post event. It's certainly very hard going on the quads! Nonetheless, it was easy to navigate and the views throughout are stunning!
The aid stations are few and far between so its essential to come prepared, ideally with a nutrition vest that will allow you to carry sufficient food and water.
I highly recommend the event nonetheless. Very enjoyable and it's made me want to do more off-road events in the future.

Very scenic course, especially the part along the coast. One would have to train in advance in order to walk (there is no way one can run) the uphills and also to run the downhills. Both very steep. There is practically no flat part. The distance is more like 17-18M according to our Garmin and not 16M. Bring food-nutrition and also bring your own bottle to be refilled at water stations since there are no cups (that's very good for the enviroment). The course can be also very muddy, and mud makes the dowhills even harder. My quads are still on fire after 3 days..!!

I took part in the Ultra event which started at 8am I arrived at 6:30 when the registration opened and was able to park in the car park which was only about 50m away from the start/finish and registration, which was perfect. The registration process was very well organised and I picked up my race number really easily and quickly along with my event t-shirt. 30 minutes before the start we all gathered for a very through briefing. At 8am we were off and out onto a very testing course. The climbs and descents were very steep and there were lots of them. The weather this year was horrendous with wind, rain and mist which added to the toughness of the race. The course is spectacular with some stunning views even though it was misty. The aid stations were very basic with a few sweets., biscuits and water. The marshals were all very helpful and enthusiastic. For the ultra distance you come into the start/finish area after the marathon distance and have to go back out from there for the final miles which is physiologically tough. A great challenge on a great course.

This is a tough race and not for the faint hearted! The weather in 2018 was crazy! heavy squalls meant a slight diversion on the run out from the start but it didn't detract from the toughness! The westbound part of the route serves as an entrée to the crazy cliffs and muddy field (this year felt like a Tough Mudder course!) of the eastbound part of the course where the ascents and descents are just bonkers and stunning at the same time. The change of route this year was good, taking us behind, not through, the start finish when heading out east, but at the same time, it was a shame not to run round the Lulworth cove beach but still, the views were awesome. Well marshalled, a few spots where supporters cheer on the runners. I still don't think the organisers have got the Ultra/Ultra + checkpoint right when heading out west again, caused some half marathon runners some confusion - a couple of clear signs would help. Overall - great atmosphere, well briefed before starting off, well marshalled and well marked route. Will definitely be back for more in 2019.
