Hello Natasha, Thank you for your honest and open comments and I DO mean this. It's your Race Director Mark here and I wanted to reply to some of your comments and open the door for further discussion to put your mind at ease. Starting with the awards - I agree it would be lovely to do when everyone is back but logistically this is not possible - particularly when you add the fact that the 5km podium winners would have been waiting almost an hour for this. It is a balance and I was doing all I could to let them know when they would be announced, and continually manage the race. Some of them actually had to leave before the announcements (which is something I offered to them so they could take their trophies) so you can see how hard it is to get this spot on. It may have been this that created the impression that slower runners are less cared for and this is certainly not the case. At the heart of what we do, is that all are important regardless of ability. I certainly did acknowledge any runner whom I saw, regardless of their finishing time, though not as much as I would have liked to have done as it was a very busy evening and there were lots of duties to do. There was a very experienced marshal at the bridge but this evening the village was very busy and so she was helping colleagues by the road junction as some runners were heading for home meaning that the area was busy with both runners and vehicles. We have a very loyal and faithful set of volunteers for this race and they know the route and it's challenges well. Without our regulars, we may not be able to host the race as volunteers can be a challenge occasionally to recruit. Regarding the van, I spoke with the driver and together with the England Athletics Race Adjudicator in attendance, we guided the vehicle over to load up the jetski. We get to host races in some lovely locations and this does mean too that non-runners like to use the facilities. We have permission to use the location but not overall control over access but we work with the public (the van driver was very considerate) and this is mentioned in my race briefing that we share the facility. I hope this explanation comes over in the intended spirit and please drop us an email if you would like to discuss this further. I am concerned that you have the wrong impression of a number of things and would welcome the opportunity to have a chat and discuss this so your worries can be put at ease. Kind wishes, Mark
