Excellent Marshalls. Plenty about and appreciated the extra water station. Shame that age group winners can’t benefit from their prize if they have already entered the Stroud 10k

Fantastic event as always. Loved the medal this year & we still got the cider! Was very excited to hear the water station had moved to 5k but it was closer to 6k & then immediately followed by the usual 7k water station. They just need to be further apart with the 1st one at 4k maybe? It’s always wonderful weather for this race, so water is essential. Otherwise, highly recommended 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Very straightforward. Good comms. I always feel more support for the back runners in local events can really raise the bar. Any encouragement to cheer them on is noticed . The last runners had people crossing the finish in front of them etc with very little support

Overall a good well run event. The issue I had was that, in my opinion, the race should have been postponed again. The weather forecast that was reported and subsequent decisions made to go ahead, was based on temperatures of 24/25 degrees. However, at the start of the race it was more like 28 degrees. The marshals and organisers did their best to reinforce to runners to slow down if needs be, but this course is renowned for getting a PB. My time was severely altered by the weather and not enjoyable to run in. I feel that in hindsight the decision should have been made to not go ahead or start later based on the actual temperature on the day and not BBC weather a few days earlier.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and I’m sorry to hear that the conditions made the run uncomfortable for you. We take runner safety very seriously, which is why we monitor conditions before the event using multiple weather forecasts and on the day with a Wet Bulb Globe thermometer. This is a standard safety measure combining air temperature, humidity, and wind speed, rather than relying solely on standard air forecasts. On-site WBGT readings taken at 17:07 was18.6°C. Because this falls within safe parameters, the decision was made to proceed. In line with UK Athletics (UKA) guidance, we had already deployed an extra ambulance as a tail vehicle to ensure robust medical cover, along with an extra water station and issuing heat advice before and during the event. Knowing how fast this course is, we did emphasize in our pre-race email and at the start line that the conditions meant it was unlikely to be a PB day. We completely understand how frustrating it is when weather derails a target time, and we really appreciate your feedback. Thank you again for coming out and supporting the event.
