Richmond Park Marathon is a lovely race, yes it's laps and yes it's lovely. The first lap if you can call it that is all over the place and doesn't follow the standard perimiter path (Tamsin Trail), however the last 2 laps do.
But saying this the trail is varied and with wild roaming deer around there is always something new to see.
One thing that a lot of people underestimate with Richmond Park is the hills, in fact on todays marathon a few people commented that they had been told by friends that it was a flat marathon. With a total elevation gain (according to my watch) of just over 1200ft you can see that it's actually quite lumpy but that's the fun stuff isn't it :)
Would I recommend it, in one word yes, I've done it the last 2 years as well as this, thats not the kind of race that you don't bother returning to.
The water stops are just that water, if you want electrolytes or similar bring your own, however there was plenty of water as well as sliced bananas, apples, jelly babies etc. And once through the finish line a table stocked up with various cakes which were tasty :)
