This is one of my favourite races on the calendar. It is always so well organised, and incredibly well-supported. The wind and rain was heavy going, but that didn't stop Brighton Half being the happiest half marathon ever!

The atmosphere was great. The Start was clumsy. 20 minutes for me to get from the 2h30m pen to the start line. This led to an issue with the timing chip. Why wasn't it set to start as you crossed the start line, si everyone could get a chip time as well as a race time. Being given an official time of +20mins because the start was so congested isn't fair or motivating. Other congestion points on the course detracted from the experience.

When I arrive I spent about 30 minutes queueing to get into the baggage section, only to find out that there was another entrance that I could have walked through without the wait, no idea why staff didn't say anything to the hundreds of us queueing. Also impossible to use the to...

When I arrive I spent about 30 minutes queueing to get into the baggage section, only to find out that there was another entrance that I could have walked through without the wait, no idea why staff didn't say anything to the hundreds of us queueing. Also impossible to use the toilet (same as last year) before the race. This lead to a bit of a stressful start, but the staff were very calm and helpful. People overestimating their race speeds is also a big issue. I started at the back of the 1:45-2 hour queue, and spend the majority of the race trying to overtake people, so I couldn't properly hit my stride. People should not force their way to the front, only to start walking within the first 2km. I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone looking to get a PB, unless you arrive 2 hours early to get to the front of the race.

It was wet, it was windy, it was cold and YET the Organisers pulled off a fantastic event. I was right at the back and I couldn't believe the crowd support, how the bands played on, the choirs sang on and the aid stations were stocked right till the very end. Your baggage drop ladies were just full of smiles despite standing out in a gale all day! BRAVO!
