A few things. It was a toughie, as many will have said. I lost my legs not long after 10 miles, having set an unsustainable pace for the hilliness and humidity on the day. Some e-mailed pre-race detail about the demands of the race would have helped temper my enthusiasm, even tho...

A few things. It was a toughie, as many will have said. I lost my legs not long after 10 miles, having set an unsustainable pace for the hilliness and humidity on the day. Some e-mailed pre-race detail about the demands of the race would have helped temper my enthusiasm, even though plenty of people had warned me! The water stations and availability of jelly babies etc were great though - thanks. And the spectator support even round the more far flung villages was brill. I was really flagging at the end, but knew I had some food ready, and family support. I didn't see much at the finish line in the way of food / snacks to help people replenish who were less prepared, but perhaps the paramedics were on standby - I heard of several people being very wobbly at the finish. Lastly there was a bit a of a crush at the start running down the hill to the exit from the park, and the ground isn't very even (roots etc.), nor is is the tarmac very wide - clear warning about that (and of the bollards soon after) would help, perhaps with tighter funnelling. I will be back!

Great event, well organised and scenic on traffic free roads. Quite undulating so probably not PB potential but it was great that the last couple of miles or so were mainly downhill. Stuff to keep kids busy while waiting in the marquee and the huge fee scone was much appreciated....

One minor point - providing better signage and/or postcode for car park would be good

a very well organised scenic half marathon with challenging hills, but rewarding views and great support from the locals. This is not a town route, it starts and finishes in one of the local parks, but takes runners into the nearby countryside, which is great.

I love the Basingstoke Half, it's a massively under-rated event. The event village is much fancier than some other bigger races, it's a beautiful course on closed roads, good medal and prizes, really excellent free photos should get a special mention. Lots of marshalls around the...

I love the Basingstoke Half, it's a massively under-rated event. The event village is much fancier than some other bigger races, it's a beautiful course on closed roads, good medal and prizes, really excellent free photos should get a special mention. Lots of marshalls around the course and although the supporting crowds aren't massive there are some lovely local folk that come out on race day to cheer you along in the middle of nowhere. My favourite race of the year, 100% recommend.

This was my first ever half marathon! I really enjoyed it and really soaked up the atmosphere from the village round the whole course and back to the finish line. Being a lady of a certain age continence can become an issue so would have liked to have seen some porta-loos on the route along with the water stations, not many as I know people just want to get going but I limited my fluid intake on the day for fear of an accident! But overall I loved the day and am already looking forward to next year

This was my 3rd time running the half marathon and I absolutely loved it. I love that even though you are running on the road for the most part you are surrounded by beautiful countryside or pretty villages- it’s lovely seeing people stood out in their front gardens cheering you on. The Marshalls are super encouraging and there is just a lovely friendly happy atmosphere! I thought the medal and the t shirt were particularly good this year - really colourful! Thanku for a lovely day!

Being local and knowing the route I knew I was going to be hard the heat made it brutal - for me anyway. The start was a bit chaotic, would be better to separate the races or have more distinct start "pens" this would help with congestion getting out of the park. Support and Ma...
