The organisation of this event was faultless. I was very impressed by the amount of pre-race information and how well it was staffed and run on the day. This was my first ultra so I didn't know what to expect but, overall, a great introduction to this distance. I loved the good variety of roads, dirt tracks, fields and woods in a very scenic location - distance aside, not too challenging. Everyone was so friendly which created an enjoyable atmosphere. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

My third time at RTTK and first time completing 100km (actually 103km). What an experience it was. Amazingly scenic course. The hilly castle loop is not to be underestimated in the dark. Amazing volunteers and well-stocked aid stations along the way. To the guy below complaining ...

My third time at RTTK and first time completing 100km (actually 103km). What an experience it was. Amazingly scenic course. The hilly castle loop is not to be underestimated in the dark. Amazing volunteers and well-stocked aid stations along the way. To the guy below complaining about the grassy course. Hey, that’s part of the challenge. The sections along the river were challenging in the dark but there were no insurmountable obstacles. You can hardly expect volunteers and race organisers to clear long grass over a 100km course. You just have to take it as it comes. As for the downhill finish, that was fantastic. A great way to end the race. I’ve signed up for the straight-through 100km Race to the Stones next year. I’m looking forward to it. Threshold do know how to put on great events.

As a complete novice, we didn’t need to look at a map or phone once; the sign posting was remarkable from start to finish. And as for the rest stops; we ate and drank like royalty- gels, electrolytes, fruit, potatoes, crisps, sandwiches, sweets, as well as first aid including talc and Vaseline! THE BEST DAY OUT! We’ve already rebooked for next year.

What a challenge, beautiful scenic route, with challenging terrain - the hills!! The Marshalls, were so helpful, kind and encouraging, many are runners themselves so they know what you are going through! The elation when you finish!! nothing like it. :)

My first ultra was this Race to the King 50k Coastal. Great course, Marshalls were encouraging and the aid stations had great food! Lovely medal at the end. A free beer at the finish line would have been a great bonus though. Have already booked for the 50k Castle route next year...

Very friendly staff everywhere. very well organised. Great medal. I also bought the tee shirt as it was really great quality and design. BUT..... the car park at West Dean Gardens was a field that had not been cut for months and grass was 2ft high! Worse, on the Castle route, the return to West Dean finish was down a very steep hill again where the grass had not be cut at all. Add in the flat section around the river Arun which also had long grass and required careful walking so as not to twist an ankle and brambles and nettles on the narrow paths of the return section which meant it was not conducive to safe running. Threshold Series should do more to ensure the route is clear before the race day and move back to Goodwood and dump West Dean Gardens!
