Really enjoyable (tough) event, stunning scenery, volunteers were excellent, organisation was excellent. Weather was fine and road shoes were good for 95% of it. Trail shoes may have helped for a few of the steeper bits, but it's a 50/50 call really and the trails were really well kept so great for running. Running through the forests, getting glimpses of the reservoir and then it opening up at various points to see the vast expanse of water was wonderful. Good for the soul.

A friendly and beautiful low key marathon with excellent volunteers and a nice medal to boot! Optional tee shirt which is better for the environment and a bus option from Newcastle

Car parking terrible for the 1/2M in particular - park on the side of long, long, long road down the side of the dam....one vehicle at a time and so a 1.5k walk uphill to the start. The bussing was terrible in general and lead to a 15min delayed start for us as competitors struggled to make to to the start; we got cold. Our group's supporter had bussing problems too being dumped off *somewhere* and no indication as to where to go to the race; eventually she gave up and went to the finish. The busses back to the car park were at the top of the hill. The 'double finish' was confusing with the timing mats for the full marathon start left in place and the finish 50m round the bend - why? The location, trail and etc were amazing though. The problems were self-created by the organisers up

It was really well organised this year with buses visible and plenty of very helpful volunteers throughout the course and on site. The only downside was the contents of the goodie bags, they were not as good as previous years. In particular the children's bags, the contents of which were mostly not suitable for children. Previous years have always been very good.

Disappointed that, for the third time of entering this event, those of us who followed the race instructions were left standing around at the start in the cold in vest and shorts while the start was delayed yet again to accommodate latecomers. You'd think the organisers would have sorted this out by now. The race should start at the advertised time and all runners should be told on entering that it is their responsibility to ensure that they are at the start on time.

Slight delay at the start, but a scenic, taxing course and a well organised event. The marshals were excellent.

Absolutely beautiful marathon and fabulous course ! The event staff were all incredible so big thank you to them! Only thing was you had to walk back up a massive hill to get a bus back to the car park which wasn’t ideal when your legs had packed in!

I ran the marathon, my first, and was very impressed by the whole operation. There was ample parking available when I arrived, and not too far from the start. The start line was clearly but a little confusing to get to! I loved the route, amazing views and not crowded at all. I enjoyed the course and having settled into my pace, I enjoyed talking to runners around me! I had some supporters with me who had a little trouble with the bus going past the first spectator spot, but they managed to see me at all the spectator spots nonetheless. Crossing the finish line was fantastic and the spectators were super supportive. A great weekend all round!

Having done the 10k a couple of times I decided to try the gravel duathlon. It was a fantastic race. You start with he 10k then head off round the lake on your gravel bike. It’s a great, challenging course. There were marshals and water stations dotted around the course at appropriate points. You leave your trainers in T1 and then all of your things are delivered to T2 by magic. Great organisation. You then drop your bike off (which is delivered back the end) and then run for home! Fantastic race. Will definitely do again.
