Just what the doctor ordered. Plenty of Vitamin D, fresh air, beautiful scenery, friendly runners and walkers, amazing volunteers and wonderfully organised by Paul and his team. Some of the trickier sections of the route were clearly explained at the beginning of the day. The course was heavily signposted which was a huge relief! Thank you massively to the lovely marshal who stood at the four-way crossover point to direct us all for the first couple of laps; I would surely have made a wrong turn without her being there. I planned to do two laps but the way the course was set out, with lots of small sections to focus on before aiming towards the next mini target, I completed three laps. Thank you for letting me purchase a Big Bear cap part way through my run too; definitely a benefit of loops as it meant I wasn't stranded half way down the course with the sun beating down on my head!
Parts of the course had loose gravel and tree roots so it was important to keep eyes peeled to avoid some tricky terrain at times. The walk up the steep ascent to the leaf was a killer but accepting that it would be walked made it acceptable and the view at the top was stunning. I'm not sure why, but this is in my top three Big Bear locations and if the dates work, I'll be back in 2027. As always the volunteers were amazing, the aid station had wonderful snacks and the bling medal is always a highlight. Such a recommended event and course for first timers at Big Bear Events, as well as the regulars. Thank you so much , Paul! Another 5* event :-)
