The event didn’t live up to my expectations and I’d love to see the event improve in some key areas. Aid stations need to be better stocked especially for an ultra in the summer. Pre event information was not detailed enough and two GPX files were sent out pre race which led to some confusion when the route signs were not clear. Inexperienced tail runners meant that runner safety was compromised. A spectacular route but needs more thorough organising.

Beautiful route with some amazing views. The start was well organised, and loos were available. Very basic bib pick up but not much else was needed at the start. The first aid station was ~12-13 km, which would be fine if it was well stocked, and on such a hot day it was important. Only warm coke and warm water, some hot jelly babies, and hot slices of oranges and watermelon (left in full sun on the table probably since the first runners went through). Felt really down after that as I started to overheat and needed something more than that to keep going! Managed to get an ice lolly from a tea shop tucked away on the route which helped a lot. Made it to the next aid station at ~24km where only water was on offer. The race HQ near the finish seemed friendly and I was told to continue for another 1.5k or so to get my time recorded and come back for the medal and a glass of prosecco. When I did come back after making it to the finish (the lady at the top was great) I got no cheering and the race director checked if I hadn't already got my medal. Got the medal and glass of prosseco which was very nice but felt disappointed by the finish after all the hard work in that heat. Yes, it is trail running, and you are on your own, but having done different ones before I expected slightly more support on the route but most of all not a disappointing finish.

**Pros** * The scenery throughout the course was absolutely amazing. * The route itself was fantastic to run and really enjoyable. * Course marking/signage was very good and easy to follow. *the volunteers I did see were really nice and helpful **Cons** * There were no aid stations at Checkpoint 3 or Checkpoint 6. I ran from Aid Station 2 all the way to the 50k mark with no water support, which was a ridiculous distance in those conditions. * Even after sitting down for an hour (waiting to be picked up )and returning to check CP6, there was still nobody there. * Considering this was a 100k event and temperatures were 29°C+, this felt extremely dangerous and raised serious concerns for runner safety and welfare. * Due to concerns about my health and dehydration risk, I made the decision to withdraw from the race. *NO tracking system - essential in any Ultras.

What an incredible route it was. A point to point from Bere Regis to Kimmeridge Bay. The first half being mainly flat before we hit the glorious Purbecks. The heat was so intense. It made me feel like I was about 10kgs heavier and super unfit. East Creech Tea Rooms must have done a good trade in ice cream and cold cans of drink as runners stopped for refreshments before the first big climb. Head down, one foot in front of the other. Don't think about it. As we arrived in Kimmeridge with smiles on our faces, we were instructed that we had to climb up the Clavell Tower. Cruel in the heat but so worth it. It had to be one of the most spectacular finish lines I can remember. Sign me up to the 50k next year now
