The course was beautiful and challenging - some areas where you can really stretch your legs and then some steep climbs thrown in too. The race village was enjoyable with a great atmosphere (music) and even Peroni on draft! The medal was well designed, but, for the price you pay, it would have been nice to have got a finishers t-shirt, especially for the Long and Ultra routes. The volunteers were so supportive and helpful all around the course. The course signage was a bit sparse at times with a few of us looking around to check we haven’t gone the wrong way. The aid stations were a bit too small, more toilets, food and water was needed especially at the earlier stations.

Everything seemed great, great route, great staff support, great energy. Only negative was that there seemed to be very little attempt at organising and encouraging recycling and low waste at the event site. Recycling bins were vague and mixed with general rubbish.

The biggest criticism was the food at the aid stations - I appreciated being told which exact items to expect at each station in advance, however, on the day of the event, there were no sandwiches at any aid stations and this had a huge impact on my race and the day itself. I understand the caterer let them down, however an alternative could have been arranged. This was the main meal component of the aid stations and meant essentially had to run the event fuelled on snacks. One other small comment is that there weren't many pictures taken, especially given the length/duration of the event. It seems more pictures were taken off people at the shorter distances! Otherwise, thought the event was very well run and was impressed.

Absolutely enjoyed the race and the day. 1 thing missing was the mobile reception or wifi. Especially since we tried to follow our mates from the Long with the GPS. And checking results etc.

There were a couple of unmarked parts of the trail that I was unsure which way to go. The gps didn’t give an accurate route unfortunately either. The very narrow coastal path was awkward to navigate with traffic and I come across one very rude walker who aired his view.

Brilliant event. Pre race day communication was great, and clear. On the day the atmosphere was great, music, and stalls to shop and nice food options. Loved the big screen to watch how the ultra runners were doing also. Easy to park, plenty of toilets. The compare for the day was brilliant also, personally congratulating every runner that crossed the line. Also loved the tasters at finish line too , tenzing, bols ect. This was my first maverik run but definitely will do more.

Good: great course, lovely volunteers, easy parking and nice race venue, nice medal, great atmosphere. Needs improving: Nowhere to sit at the aid stations, lack of real food at most aid stations, section of the course with bad signage and sharp holly bushes that needed cutting back, exposed cold and delayed race start. Poor: No food at the finish line for finishers past 10:30pm. Can’t stress enough how bad this is. Food vans had gone home early, no alternatives, all local shops and petrol stations closed. Many years of running ultras I’ve never been left in this situation before. Would I recommend: Yes, but hopefully Maverick will sort out the chairs and food issues.
