Better T-shirt material. They should be wicking material or even a polyester. People are more likely to wear and provide advertisement for future events when the T-shirts look and wear better. Additional marking on bike route the last mile or two.

The event’s swim portion was cancelled so it was no longer a qualifying event. Some volunteers were good, some were a little abrasive with managing transition zones. We were not able to park on property and had to be shuttled, pre race was good, post race was poorly managed and many biked back to the lot 3 miles away where our cars were. Water and snacks at end, no beer and minimal swag given out. Did well setting up with pivoting starting to a bike- run. Course was well mapped- biking on busy highway, and running on a path that had a lot of pedestrians- some biking some walking 3-4 wide in groups- rough to navigate at times. Didn’t always feel safe course wise. Officials were heavy handed- yelling regulations and enforcing usat Ironman rules (passing, 12m back). Took some fun out of it.

Thank you for your review, Laura! A few comments: - The parking was changed because the field where we normally park athletes was flooded. All comments that I have seen said that this went really well! 6 school buses and quick rides. - We asked that you not ride to your cars, we would never suggest this. - The bike course was on roads that were shut down and patrolled. - The officials are there because it was a USAT qualifying event. You said it was not, this is not correct. - Abrasive volunteers are taking their jobs seriously for your safety. They are all very nice people but sometimes they have to be loud and commanding when the race is in progress. - There were 4 kegs from Good News Brewing under the pavilion - FREE for all athletes and plenty! So, please have your facts in place before providing such a negative review. Thank you!

I loved this event. The bike route is fantastic: a state highway with one lane closed, smooth pavement, manageable climbs, and plenty of opportunity for speed. It is easily one of the best race bike courses I have done. The swag was great, the finish line experience was excellent, and the volunteers were friendly and helpful throughout the event. Even with the unexpected weather and swim-related changes, the event still felt well organized and worth doing. I would absolutely recommend this race and plan to come back.

Sally Drake always organizes a great race. Her staff is fantastic. The swim was cancelled due to water quality issues and the parking needed to be moved at the last minute due to excessive rain. Despite all these last minute issues, she GOT IT DONE!

As usual mse had everything organized to perfection. Wave swim start was a bit awkward as we all started at once-got stuck behind folks that seated poorly, but? Run course was good, it was odd to have pedestrians and non racers on course but everyone seemed to yield to racers...
As usual mse had everything organized to perfection. Wave swim start was a bit awkward as we all started at once-got stuck behind folks that seated poorly, but? Run course was good, it was odd to have pedestrians and non racers on course but everyone seemed to yield to racers pretty well, but that could be a problem. Overall I thought it was well run and safety was above and beyond in water etc. thanks for doing what you do!!
