I’ve done this ultra 2 times now, the first run of it was my first ever ultra, and I think it was a perfect first choice, it’s a good mix of terrain keeping it interesting, it’s fairly runnable with a big climb up Pen y Fan and a technical decent down Jacob’s ladder. Fantastic views set in beautiful countryside. It’s also a good one for the experienced ultra runner looking for a runnable ultra, but don’t underestimate the challenge!! The team behind OTT are top guys and you are in good hands. The check points have all you need to fuel and you get a lovely finishers slate coaster. Highly recommend

My first Ultra in 2024, returned in 2025 and have now run a total of 10 which I think reflects brilliantly on the event. A great Ultra for a first timer or an experienced runner looking for a combination of great runnable sections and more challenging but shorter technical sections. Communication is excellent beforehand. The opportunity to collect bib previous evening in execellent local independent running shop takes morning stress away and helps avoid any mandatory kit problems. Well marked course, with numerous great views at various points and really good finishing area. Also some of the best volunteers on any race

I've done this race twice now and it's definitely one of my favourite routes. OTT in general are such a friendly running community and their races reflect this. The organisation of the event is really good and participation number's aren't too high so it feels more intimate than bigger events. Aid stations always have a good vibe with plenty of food and drink options. The route itself may seem daunting on paper but is actually very runnable, especially as you do all your elevation gain in the first half. Great for someone's first ultra distance. Can't wait to do this for the third time (and fourth, and fifth......)

This was my first ultra (in 2024) and returned for 2025. I like the fact it's a small but very well marked event put on by friendly organisers with a strong community vibe. The course is a bit of a mix - it's actually quite a quick course (ignoring the middle bit!) with some proper climbing and technical trail thrown in along the way - very runnable. It's definitely a good first ultra on trails for someone considering upping their distance beyond marathon.
