A very tough road marathon, glad I completed it in a decent time. Be prepared for lots of hill climbs, especially when you are very tired and near the end when your legs and energy levels are ruined! The marshalls very really friendly and helpful and lots of on course support from locals. My only small gripe was the cups at aid stations instead of small water bottles (which I was hoping for) as it turned out to be extremely hot for October and I loose a lot of fluids sweating but guessing this is so the course /island isn't littered with bottles which I do understand. Had to stop at each station to take on enough water, but then so did everyone. Happy to have done this tough course even if I did slow a lot in the second half up some of the climbs. the t shirt is really lovely quality.. I love it.. and so is the medal. A really good one to do if you want to challenge yourself and feels good to have done it.

The event itself was very good, with a great atmosphere. However, the finish line was very poor. Upon entering the car park there were no more marshals to guide runners into the finish funnel, and it was up to spectators to help some runners back on course. This has happened e...

I found the IOW Marathon a really well organised, friendly and ideal marathon for someone not looking for a PB, but wanting to experience a different kind of vibe over the Solent. The route is really scenic and although a few stretches are on main roads with traffic and no pavements, this didn't detract much from the overall experience, as long stretches are on quiet country lanes. All in all, I'd recommend this marathon to all, especially when the sun shines like it did on Sunday.

Great marathon , and a very hard course plenty of ups and downs , friendly atmosphere. A lovely hot day again (I did this event 2023 and it was hot then) So in a nutshell very good event Marshall’s were great especially out in that sun all day
