Glad you enjoyed it. Unfortunately or new run course, created to make the course faster & less muddy, did cause some confusion. We have a plan for the October event that we think will work better.

I really recommend this event for anyone wanting to have a go at triathlon. Torbay velopark is a perfect setting for a safe family triathlon experience and fast for the competitive athletes .The Sportiva team as always were warm and friendly … That was my first sprint Tri ( entered last minute, as my son was also competing ) I felt underprepared and nervous so this meant a lot ! . Very supportive lovely atmosphere in my earlier /slower wave group (11) from the poolside right through to end … I …it was also wonderful to be able to also watch the faster triathletes and my son perform and finish

This was my first triathlon, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but everyone was so kind and the course was well set-out. I would have appreciated clearer pre-race communications, as there is a lot of information to take in from the pack provided and not all of it is relevant to your specific race. I also wouldn’t bother getting my number sent in advance next time, as you need to collect your tracker and lap stickers on the day. It would be useful if this all came together, or you could collect it in one place on the day. Overall great event and would recommend!

I completed the sprint triathlon yesterday and overall it was a solid event, but there were a couple of areas that really let it down—course direction and the quality of the medal. I fully accept that it’s ultimately my responsibility to understand the course beforehand, and I came prepared having reviewed the route. However, during the race itself, the lack of clear and consistent direction from marshals made things unnecessarily difficult. At several points on the course, it wasn’t obvious which way to go, and the marshals present either didn’t give clear guidance or seemed unsure themselves. In an event like this, especially at sprint distance where pacing and flow matter, having confidence in the route is important. Even well-prepared athletes rely on marshals for reassurance and clarity during the race. Unfortunately, that support just wasn’t there when it was needed. In addition, the finishers’ medal felt quite underwhelming. Compared to similar events, the quality and design were fairly poor and didn’t really reflect the effort that goes into completing the race. That said, I appreciate the effort that goes into organising these events and the role volunteers play. With better briefing for marshals and an improvement in finishers’ rewards, this could easily be a much better overall experience.

I'm really sorry to hear that you had problems with the run course. We have a plan for our next race there in October for a course that is easier to follow. We'd used the same run course for several years and decided to change it, after a successful test with a smaller event in March, to use more smooth tarmac & to avoid mud & rough ground. We're also sorry to hear of your disappointment with the medal. Unfortunately because of Trump's crazy war in the Middle East air freight has been seriously disrupted. The medals we ordered in January arrived the Monday after the event and we were forced to order emergency off the shelf medals from a UK supplier, the week before the event.

Great event, location, routes, facilities. ONLY one issue - there was a rogue 'support team' member in transition (think from the BTA as had lots of BTA logo kit on), telling people about the new race rules for this year, saying that he would let things slip today but not in future, however, the issues with KIT being ILLEGAL, he mentioned were WRONG and he had mis- understood the rules (I have now checked online) Wheel rims larger than 65mm, helmets covering ears and with removable visors etc. These all refer ONLY to DRAFT LEGAL races NOT NON_DRAFTING races like this one. Probably didn't affect any results but had a lot of people looking worried about their kit for this season.

The run course was a bit confusing for the sprint tri with the small loops at the beginning and turn points, and because everyone was at different points in their race, the marshals couldn’t always confidently tell you where you were up to. I was saved by recording it on my watch. I didn’t see any aid or refueling stations the whole time (I might have missed them). Thank you for organising!
