A fantastic event with great support around the course!! Great atmosphere at the beginning of the race with loads of people cheering and clapping. I tagged onto the 5.15 hour pacer group, which is something I have never done before and so pleased I did Sharon the lead pacer was so friendly, encouraging, entertaining and supportive really made the first 15 / 16 miles easier, I did slow down and lost the group towards the end as I tired, but will definitely go with pacer groups from now on!! The Marshall’s and aid stations where all great around the whole course really really friendly and encouraging. The end of the race was great as well (apart from the cramp?!) really good atmosphere. The only criticism would be by the time I crossed the line with a time of 5 hours 33 minutes all of the stalls had or were packing up?! Even the treat table didn’t have much only a few biscuits and bananas! Hence the one star! It did feel like the event is aimed at the more elite runners and not slower runners like myself and quite a few others, I would have gladly had a massage to ease my cramp! Still enjoyed the event as I had just run a marathon!!

A great route for a road marathon - right out into the countryside- no real hills to worry about - the lap part is character building. Great amount of supporters out on the route - will definitely do again. Highlight was the power up sheep 🤣🤣

The Chelmsford Half Marathon 2025 was a really enjoyable running event. The route itself was rural, along firm paths, across a few little bridges and passed by Writtle College, and the village of Roxwell. Quite rural overall, but lovely Autumn colours to look at, and some really striking houses/farms. Havens Hospices did a fabulous job of organising the event, and there were a lot of marshals, volunteers and signposts (all in miles). The start/finish area was buzzing, and the finish was memorable with lots of supporters cheering. There were official photographers on parts of the route, and a good amount of water stations (some residents had water out and sweets - thank you!). Oh and lots of toilets at the start/finish, though only one I can remember on the route itself. The medal is lovely; the same medal regardless of whether you ran the half or the full, but the ribbon with the race you did printed on it. Would definitely do it again.
