This is an extremely tough event. Only 40% of starters finished and that’s the highest percentage in the 3 years the event has existed. The start time, course, time of year and time limits are the main factors. Given the time of year I thought the weather was actually pretty good in 2025. I finished, I’m not complaining, just think this should be made very clear.
There was generally plenty of food at the aid station and I was right at the back but not enough variety, not enough complex carbs (no cake, biscuits, oat based bars). Maybe ok for the fast people but I’d have liked all the stations to offer “enhanced” food and more.
The fact you are not allowed any external support what so ever and have only one drop bag at well over half way also makes it difficult. Want dry socks to avoid blisters? Sure - carry some spare pairs. But your pack will be heavier and get heavier as you replace dry for wet socks and that will slow you down!
All the volunteers, medics and safety team were brilliant.
