Excellent organisation but there was one HUGE problem....there were no 'check points' ie chip verifications on each route subsequently on the Long Route which I did I noticed when I looked at the results riders who started after me and finished before me but didn't pass me !!......ie they did the Medium route but got timings for the Long route.....hence I have no idea what position I finished on the Long Route. There were only 2 people that passed me on the long route and both were on 'official' medium routes - nobody passed me who was on a long route but they had better times than me some and hour or so better - I did the long route in 5.25 hrs one girl was 1.5 hours quicker.....starting later than me and finishing before me.......absolutely absurd !! Was going to email the timing guys weeks ago about this issue - didn't realise there was a review option. Please please please next year can you have verified checkpoints whereby a rider can but checked they are still on the appropriate course and if they have deviated onto the medium course from the long course can their times be classified as medium otherwise it make a mockery of the whole timing situation if riders are allowed to change courses and still get a timing for the enrolled course. This is my 4th UKCE and I’m very impressed every time. I got my cycling buddy to join me this time and he was impressed. 😀 Your race / safety marshals are great, located at busy junctions or crossing busy roads. At your other events they are also located at steep descents. 👍 Also support mechanics very visible at start and feed stations - I didn’t need them but they were there. Great positive teams at feed stations. The events are competitively priced and I consider them value for money. I’ll be back 😀
