Loved this course, I’d ran the 5 passes a few months ago, really enjoyed that, so I thought I’d give the 4 passes a go, loved it. Great course, excellent support, everyone so friendly. Ascend events and all their volunteer made it a fantastic day out, many thanks to you all

A really fun and challenging 20 mile trail race around Silverdale. Race briefing was clearly communicated this was a self navigated route along with particular spots that were going to be muddy (as expected, given it’s late winter). There was no big count down, a simple “enjoy yourselves!” and we were off. Well stocked aid station/check point half way round at Silverdale. I had trouble finding it, but I think that was my fault not reading the map correctly. Finishing the race at Milnthorpe we were given a chunky medal and a fantastic nourishing hot meal. If I could change one thing, it would be the weather!! Given the limitations of a small but well organised race, I think I’m asking for too much. Perhaps next year! A great day, looking forward to the next one!

I ran this in 2017 and 2018 and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. In 2017, conditions were excellent. In 2018, it was dry overhead but very wet underfoot. This did not dampen my enjoyment at all, it just made it slightly more challenging - there were some very boggy sections and the section around the coast was slippy and required care. However, this is the most 'runnable' event I have done in the Lake District. The event sold out and had a 100% completion rate, so this is achievable for any runner with experience of longish off-road distances. The route is varied and challenging enough to be interesting, but nothing like as technical as Ascend Events' other races. There is quite a bit of woodland and it is only the relatively short coastal section that is narrow and rocky (but fairly flat). There are some good climbs, but it isn't too quad-busting. The route is very pretty, and the view over the coast is especially beautiful.

I would highly recommend Ascend Events for organisation, attention to detail and value for money. The route description and GPX file are spot on and the kit list is sensible without being overly long. The aid station is very well stocked and all the volunteers are brilliant. There is tea and toast at the start and a hot meal at the finish, all for a very reasonable price. The team took their own photos and made these available for free, which is superb. The event has a lovely friendly feel and I will definitely be back!

I enjoyed navigating my way around a new route using the excellent route description provided. The coastal scenery was nice - a bit of a novelty for me. Organisation was top notch with excellent post-race catering. The organisers obviously care. The event seemed more friendly than most, with people running in groups, possibly to share the navigation. This was my first Ascend Events race. It's got me wanting to do their next one now (Derwentwater Dawdle).

This was my first self-navigation event and although I was a little apprehensive I absolutely loved it. Running with a more experienced friend made it easier but the friendliness of the other participants meant that if there were any navigation issues someone would help out. The variety of terrain and the beauty of the landscape helped to take your mind off things. I will definitely be back!!

This is a perfect event to fledge your navigation wings if you have never done an unmarked course before. The route description is detailed and almost foolproof.

I have already pencilled this one in for next year!

Very runnable with a few steep climbs and technical sections.  Easy to get to.  A really friendly feel to the whole organisation.  Highly recommended.
