This was my first attempt at a standard distance triathlon and I wasn't disappointed. The field was pretty small and friendly, perfect for a first timer.

The swim was a loop of Thorpe Park lake and was v enjoyable and well marked. I was sure you how quick I was. However, it was a bit weedy and at points I found myself tangled up in the weeds. Not a nice feeling but it didn't ruin the swim.

The cycle was undulating - and at some points quite hard since I'm not a great cyclist. I even walked up one hill with another lady! Low traffic and easy to navigate.

The run was 3 laps around the back of Thorpe Park and was a bit disappointing- it's pretty ugly and not inspiring which is unfortunate. There are scraps of rides and equipment just chucked on the side alongside the running route

Sadly, v little support on the course except at transition

Overall I enjoyed it and it was well organised. Would do it again.
