← Dream Trail Race

This was my first ever trail race and what a shock I got!!

I don't do much trail running (I'm scared of kidnappers!) but on the occasional Saturday me & my friend Jon will head to the local park and run the muddy trails through the woods. It's fun and we laugh about what we would do if one of us went face first into the mud!

Jon spotted this race and we signed up. At £10 for a 10k why would we not! I work in St Helens and often drive past The Dream so thought it would be nice to go along and give it a go. Another friend, had done it the previous year and said it was enjoyable. I remember seeing a race pic of him at the top of a steep hill!

Communication via email before the race was great and gave all the info needed for race day. Race number pick up on the day was easy and we watched a bit of the 5k before heading off ourselves for the 10k. The marshals around the course were cheerful and supportive. There was a water station quite early on which was good as it was a warm day.

The route is a mixture of grass, gravel paths and trail through woodlands. There are a few inclines along the way! It was a 2 lap course so after the first lap I knew what was coming! I took it easy & walked up some of the hills!

when I got close to the finish line it was great to see Jon & Jay there cheering me on.

This race was a nice change from all the road races I do. I was 12mins off my 10k PB but I think trail is more about enjoyment than times! Saying that we have already said we will do it again next year and definitely do some training runs around there in prep!
