Challenge Weymouth Half Triathlon

I do like a Challenge and was finally talked round to attempting the Half distance as my Boyfriends Brother in Law was already taking part so we thought let's make a weekend of it as whole family. Arriving Friday and staying in a lovely rented accommodation in Portland so not far from Weymouth itself.
Registration was on the Friday & Saturday for the Half so it gave us plenty of time to look around the course and Transition. Only problem was the one and Half miles between the 2! You were given 3 bags to organise kit in Bike/Run & swim aftercare bag. ( which were labelled wrong ! )  Which you collected at Registration. Then you could rack your bike at Transition and leave your Bike and Run bags. This was clearly marked out and very organised. The Volunteers were super & even guided me round transition so you understood it clearly for race day and showed you the changing Marquees. Your bike was racked & left overnight outside which was no problem as security was really good.  Luckily as a pro at wet weather Triathlons I'd put my kit inside carrier bags inside these bags because rain was due overnight!
Your Swim/aftercare bag came with you to the morning.
The only problem we found was by time you've done all this the time ran away and we had missed the Race Briefing!
I prefer to be briefed before you enter the water on Race Day as it does sink in better.
We all preyed for calm sea and luckily the weather Gods that morning were on our side. Well long enough for the first few waves of Ironman but by time the Half Waves started so did the Sea Waves!
I found the Sea hardest part. I just about ploughed through almost being sick on way to Transition!
The Volunteers were again amazing and helped you in the changing rooms and gave you water/bananas and hugs if you needed them!
Once out on the bike route the choppy sea was left behind me and the first climb was soon upon you! It wasn't too bad a climb just long , although a lovely lady blowing her Bugle amused me on the way up! The bike course I enjoyed most with lots of undulating county lanes and really well marshalled when you arrived at Junctions or Roundabouts making it relatively easy and traffic free. The only thing I found was the Feed Stations did not give out much choice of feed! & when I tried to grab a Banana I missed! They are bit slippery ..
Back in Transition the Volunteers rack your bike & you can run off to grab your run kit, again from clearly number marked bays.
The Run was a really nice 13.1 ? mile flat as a pancake coastal & Promenade route with laps ... Oh dear! I'm not a fan of laps and it really doesn't help that you were not given any colour lap bands or anything to help you count??? An exhausted Blonde running round in circles is never gonna remember laps!
I had my watch on for the distance which was pointless as the course was not measured correctly either, so on my return of my final lap watch saying 11. 89 I'm thinking there's a bit more so I ran past the Finish!!! ( I was not the only one!!! )
My Boyfriend was yelling to me because he knew I should have come in.. Luckily a lovely Marshell spotted me after 200yrds 'hey I've seen you too many times Your Finished!" and practically carried me arm in arm all way back so I could have my Glory and cry with emotion on the Finish Line!
I really enjoyed the Event, it was really well organised, the support from Locals and people was wonderful all way round, there was plenty of toilets to! I would recommend it to anyone trying to up their Distance in Triathlon, the Medal and T Shirt is great.

The only thing I would suggest is to Organisers when re routing or re planning the routes please measure it properly! ...send out a couple of Guinea Pigs to test run the routes! Simples
