← Hackney Half

When I was a student, I lived in Hackney. Loved it. So when someone suggested running the Hackney Half, I was straight in there.

I ran in 2015 - it was brilliant, well organised, loads of fun.

I drove, parked a Stratford and followed the directions (they had people at the station telling you where to go) and walked to the start. Cup of tea, found my friend (who managed to get a police escort to the start having ended up driving onto the course!!!) and we got ready to go.

Start was penned, which was great.  The Hackney crowds were FABULOUS. Some of them clearly thought we were very bizarre, but nonetheless they cheered. Bands, drum groups, loads of entertainment on the course.

It was warm the day I ran, plenty of water was available. It was great to run through the Olympic Park, past some iconic sights.

Fab medal. T shirt..OK here I go again...if you are going to "give" me a tshirt, please DO NOT make it unisex, or you might as well not bother, I'll never wear it.  When will UK race organisers get with the programme?

There was loads going on post race, plenty of food and drink options and a lovely atmosphere.

Would run it again.
