This was the first triathlon I ever attempted - just last year! I felt so at ease by the marshalls, the race director that I knew it was a good idea to enter. Colour me shocked when I won the Starter Sprint. If it had not been for the choice of distance including this short taster, I may not have had the courage. So, this year I knew I had to come back and up the distance. I did the Sprint distance at the Lough Cutra location of the series in May and I signed up for the Sprint Plus (800m / 44km / 8km) at Cholmondeley. I was not sorry - the whole event was up to its usual high standards - everything was spot on. Friendly event team, marshalls and clear signage and briefing (cheers, Brian!). And I took the age group win! The Castle Series has really given me the confidence to up the distance in a friendly triathlon atmosphere. Sure, there are people with fancy bikes and whatnot but there is also room for newbies like myself and zero judging.
Thanks Castle Tri and see you at Hever this weekend for my first ever aquathlon!
