← Firkin 5 Mile

The brewery's first race, expertly supported by local run club Hook Norton Harriers, to ensure everything ran smoothly!

Mixture of county lanes and muddy tracks off road, which were particularly muddy due to a rainy week, which added to the fun as it was near impossible to run up a couple of small muddy hills.  Small, friendly event with a nice mix of club runners and fun runners.  Medal plus burger plus beer for the finishers was a great idea, and a real bargain as race entry was only a tenner.  The medal was good quality and a novelty beer bottle opener too!

Logistically, the only issues were the lack of signs around the course (although there were plenty of cheery marhsalls), and the massive queue for the burgers afterwards.   One small BBQ manned by two people for over 300 runners and guests was never really going to be able to cope.  A vegetarian option was sadly missing, and it would have been nice to have a coffee stand for those of us that don't like beer!  I know that there were cans of coke as an alternative, but with the smell of hot burgers and cooling off after the run, it would have been nice to have something warming!

An excellent event and will definitely be back next year.
