← Wings For Life World Run - Cambridge

Here is my GoPro Race video https://youtu.be/_EHP6e4aMiA

This is a race with a difference. Instead of running a predetermined distance over an accurately measured course, continuously heading towards a finish line, in this race the finish line chases you & you have no idea how far you'll run.

Wings For Life World Race brings you 'the catcher car'

The race takes place in multiple locations across the globe, all starting simultaneously & each catcher car is driven by well known car racing celebrity. I had the pleasure of being pursued by none other than F1 driver David Coulthard, at the UK event in Cambridge.

The catcher car contains the chip reading technology usually found on Start & finish line, and it's parked at the start line. For the first 30 minutes the catcher car remains stationary. It then sets off at 9.34 miles per hour & holds this speed for the next hour, so I knew by 1:30 the car would be at exactly 9.34 miles on the course. At 1:30 there is a slight speed increase then another at 2:30, 3:30 & so on, the car is slowly closing you down, & when it catches you, you're race is done.

you can run 5K or 80K it depends on your pace as to when you get caught.

my only issues with this event we're the aid stations we're giving out water in paper cups, I'd prefer to see sports capped bottles.

The energy drink was Red Bull, too fizzy for a mid run drink but with Red Bull being the supporters of the Wings For Life charity, unless they invent a proper sports drink I'm sure this is what you get. You could mix the red bull & the water but that's a bit fiddly to do if you don't want to stop.

otherwise a great event, totally unique, brilliant fun
