Silverstone half marathon is a interesting unique course. This is certainly one for a F1 fan, and a race everyone should do at least once.
The race starts at midday, and this is probably because it is a pain to get to. The traffic and parking is just terrible. Once you are there it is a great experience as a first timer to experience the race course and surrounding areas. I have to remember this as I've grown used to it so it's easy to take it for granted. There is London marathon merchandise available, but unfortunately nothing specific for Silverstone.
The starting area got a little confused as everyone got moved forward so no one was by the right starting area. The course itself is really flat and fast, but does suffer from narrow sections which slows it down. You get to experience the whole race within the race grounds which is great.
one big criticism is that the mile markers were 400 metres out which makes pacing really difficult.
The race is great value for money with a wonderful goody bag full of stuff. A quality medal and cotton top. This race won't be for everyone, as some will find it boring. Others will enjoy it for PB potential, but some will just love it because of the venue itself.
