I ran this race for the 1st time and overall it was a great race.

The course itself is fast and flat. Now normally when I hear that I am sceptical but believe me, it's fast(5 minute PB) The route is a big loop out of the city centre and out towards midsummer and Grantchester before working your way back.

Support from the locals was great (despite the awful weather) especially as you made your way back to the centre at the 9/10 mile mark.Plenty of water stations with gels at each. Marshalls were full of energy and cheering my name

Bling was huge and a weighty medal, loved it. Goody bag was ok too; banana, natural bar, sun lotion and a bag of quavers. Oh and an non-alcoholic beer.

Ok now onto the negative. Baggage! From a glance it looks organised with the area organised in number order... then you see the length of the queue. 9000 runners all being handled by around 20 volunteers. With 10 mins to go, the queue was longer than the portaloo! By time I'd dropped my bag off, was time to start the run.Things got worse at the end. Cold, wet and tired and queues longer than the morning. My number was the 2nd lowest number and after queuing 10 mins, 10 of us or so we were told that the empty lower number queue volunteers were able  to collect our bags. Wrong. We were greeted with a stroppy volunteer refusing to get our bags as it's not our queue. Annoyed doesn't cut it! Luckily the others in our queue let us back in where we eventually got our bags which now had a few more volunteers. I've heard people waiting 30 mins + for a bag.

Next year better baggage and more volunteers manning it as this 1 negative put a massive day on a great run
