← Ardingly White Bird Triathlon

This was actually a Festival of Triathlons so a great idea for Novice to Pro Athletes. You can choose to start in a Pool Super-Sprint /Sprint or the Reseviour for OW Sprint/Standard. Or if you wish to stay dry there is the Dualthlon. There was no staying dry option for anyone today though it tipped it down with rain!

I decided on the OW Sprint . Now the Logistics of this start is a little confusing, if your doing OW your brief is at T2 where you leave your run shoes and after you take yourself, Bike and Wetsuit not forgetting bike shoes ! with you to T1 up by the Lake ( Reseviour) Here there is a bit of hanging about in wetsuits in freezing cold and rain hence Penguins! Myself and my friend Emma literally hugged to stay warm! After the Standard start the Sprints go at last . The OW was warmer in it! A well marked route and plenty of chaps in Canoes if you need assistants. I made it round luckily with a sharpish exit back out to T1 for bike, you get given a Blue bag with your race number on, in your dizzy state you have to place all Wetstuff in the bag. It gets returned by van back to T2 for you. The Bike route is very undulating! More enjoyable if the weather was nicer .. I couldn't see for rain! It can feel a little lonely the occasional rider goes past but no one around for the ride it's 15 miles so one lap for the Sprint.

T2 is out front by the College and by the Finish and where all the other events are so you do feel more in a race when you return to the run. The run is over grass playing field and a cross country trail route around back of the College and 2 laps for the 5km. Although not very well marked out for some as I had to shout to the Marshall when one women ran the wrong way! It's not a PB course . It's good for spectators to watch from the College as lots of different events going on. They are very well Marshelled and Paul from Hedgehog Tri and Team did an amazing job organising and so helpful if your unsure of routes etc. I enjoyed it as an event, You get a lovely Medal . The results although chip timed are a bit slow took a few days. All in all you can't blame the weather it's Britain after all!  I came 2nd in my age Cat so a great achievement considering. :)
