What a stunning setting running along the lake and old town of Lucerne.

a thoroughly enjoyable event that I would recommend to anyone wanting to take in a peaceful, beautiful city run, with this unique two lap course. The local support was brilliant, with cheers throughout.

The ratings for this are reduced owing to a few areas of improvement. Firstly, in terms of registration and race day logistics, there were no translations in English. So although this may have been done well, I really don't know.

the bag drop was about a mile away from the race village and not secure at all. None of the staff seemed to know where it was, and it was not well sign posted. In fact many bags were left unattended around the race village, not safe at all.

This was also a half marathon, and an event of two halves. The numbers greatly reduced for the second half, and so did the support. The second half was sparse and it would not be a good event for a slower competitor. After finishing the marathon I went into the town and saw the course being packed away after about 5 hours.

there was a kids race which was a great touch as a free 195 m event. However this was not implemented well which resulted in my boy getting lost. You could have easily taken a child from the finish area, not safe and not something I would do unless you could have someone watching the children at start and finish.

overall it was a lovely event and course that I would recommend .
