This will always be my first 100 mile race so for that reason, is always going to score very highly! That said, I absolutely loved everything about this event. Centurion are simply superb. Really well organised, very friendly. Lovely to see Nici as always and great to meet James. The 4-way spur set up really suited me and is why I picked it for my first. I loved coming back to Goring each time to see my friend who would then pace me for the last 50. The marshals were just brilliant. Especially when I had a mini meltdown as my back went at mile 60! To see Stu Willkie with just 4.5 miles to go and the lady marshal in there with him, well, thank you, both of you! And Ian at the finish, who got my bag, sat me down and brought me coffee!
That last leg is brutal. It is tough and long but James told us that at the start. Turning for the last time was amazing.
Dont under estimate the course, it's tough. When the weather turned, the kit was completely necessary. Anyone who skimps on kit is a fool. There is no such thing as an easy 100. This is quite runnable which in my mind makes it harder! You can't walk on the flat can you? (Yes, you can!!)
Because of other things in 2017, I have decided 2018 will be my attempt at the grand slam! But I'll be back for a 50 or 2 next year! Thank you, love love loved it!
