I've never run a 10K course as flat as this! I took over 4 minutes off my PB and I could definitely do even better here. Well-surfaced roads, fairly wide, with pacers at 5-minute intervals, and did I mention it was flat?! - this is a great course for a PB, and good for beginners, too.
Pre-race information was detailed and sent out in good time, as you'd expect for a Run North West event. Clear directions were given for how to get there, where to park, etc. Marshals helped guide us to parking places but there was a fair queue to get into the car park so allow that in your journey planning.
Bibs were collection on the day and this was done quickly and efficiently. It did mean they weren't personalised though (in fact, they didn't even have the name of the event on - not exactly a big deal, but I like to keep mine in a scrapbook). There was a small bag drop off point - many people just left belongings in their cars though as the car park was so close. The event village also had a good range of food and drink options, sports massage, first aid facilities and a Run North West stall with generous race day discount.
The medal is inspired by the nearby Joddrell Bank (there's a great view of it along one stretch of the course). Race T-shirts were an optional extra and were a bright neon green with the name and date of the race and the RNW logo. A fairly plain design but good quality technical fabric.
Water was available just before the halfway point and after the finish line, and vegan snack bars were on offer at the finish too (sadly all one flavour, and not one I like). No other goodie bag but the entry price is low and I prefer it that way round!
Overall, I really enjoyed the race and I'm thrilled with my PB. I can strongly recommend this event.
