Due to the dreaded COVID it was touch and go wether or not this event would go ahead this year ... The organisers stopped entries a couple of months ago , reducing field to 1500 the give themselves more chance of being able to get us racing .. and thankfully we were allowed to run .

Numbers were sent out along with detailed briefing and clear instructions what time to turn up and what pen you were to start from .. basically turn up at allotted time , sanitise hands , put face covering on and find a socially distanced disc in your start pen to stand on and wait . They had music playing and a large screen showing highlights of previous races so the wait wasn’t that bad , then in groups of around 20 you were walked a short distance to the start line on the road to face .... the first hill of what is a very lumpy race .. be assured if you don’t give it respect it will chew you up and spit you out ...
anyhow in a nut shell , mostly trails very hilly , very scenic and alothough we were encouraged not to bring support the locals gave ample support though villages .
Aid stationed were restricted to water only and sealed packs of sausage roll , bananas and Mars bars due to COVID restrictions.
The race was stunning , tough and enjoyable medal , water and a pasty at the finish .. can’t recommend this race enough
