I decided to sign up to Berkhamsted Half Marathon as part of my London Marathon training plan, mainly to get some good race experience. It worked a treat. The course is hilly, with a couple of significant inclines (but the last mile is gently downhill so a quick finish) so no chance of a PB. That at least meant I could focus on marathon pacing for this one.

The course was stunning. Mainly on quiet country roads and then ending up in the beautiful Ashridge Estate and forest. The water stops were frequent and many had jelly babies, although I didn’t take any. The marshal support was excellent and encouraging and the atmosphere in the race village great. The pre-race info was good and the briefing seemed fine. A nice medal, top and goody bag at the line too.

I’d highly recommend this race, especially to those training for a spring marathon.
