This was the inaugural Gargrave road Half Marathon. Registration took place at a Premier Inn which was situated right next to start line. Route was supposed to be a single loop but severe ice meant course was changed to an out & back at the last moment - safety of runners has to come first so respect to organisers for making that difficult late decision. Course was very hilly with a succession of bumps to run up. Even the revised route was slippery, with ice patches. Add the hills & this was a decent challenge.
It was very well organised and theres always a friendly atmosphere at IGUN events
Marshals were awesome as always.
Finishers received a lovely medal, chocolate and a trainer bag.
There was the usual home baked cake.
IGUN events are just great. This will be a great addition on a day when it isn't so icy.
The race wasn't without problems due to the weather but the organisers dealt with the situation perfectly.
Thanks IGUN & marshals for a great day.
