Being a trail race in December following a lot of rain, this event lived up to its name of 'Grim' - with mud, rain, wind, snow and hail, plus a bit of climbing here as there as well, so it didn't disappoint on that score.
However the attraction of any of the IGUN races is that you can always rely on the lovely marshals, who are also so encouraging and enthusiastic, in the most challenging of weather, too, this time. I even got a couple of Christmas hugs on my last lap.
If you haven't tried one of IGUN's races yet, then do, because the concept works - pretty places with lapped routes allowing multiple distances on the same day, meaning there is something for everyone, whether you want to tear around for a podium finish, or enjoy your time out in the Yorkshire outdoors. Run your race, then you get a lovely medal, a bottle of beer and chocolate to take home, and the most gorgeous home made cake for a quick re-fuel at the end.
I love these guys!!
