← Asics London 10K (formerly British 10K)

At close to £50.00 per entry, this race is eye wateringly expensive for a 10K, which will justifiably put many people off from signing up for this.

For me, this race has been a staple in the race calendar for almost 7 years in a row, being my first ever 10K race.

This year, the sponsorship and branding changed to ASICS but the format remains the same. Bag drop is quick and easy and is located at Waterloo Place, just off the Mall. Note that you cannot bring your own bag, instead you are supplied with a draw string plastic bag with stick on number to hold your belongings whilst you run.

The route begins opposite RAF Bomber Command on Piccadilly, proceeds up The Strand, down to Embankment, doubles back on Westminster Bridge before finishing on Whitehall.

Much like the London Winter 10K at the start of the year, there is a real party atmosphere with bands and music to accompany you en route and thousands of spectators to cheer you on. Aid stations are at the 5K and 8K marks and have water and electrolytes on hand.

The medal is always a respectably chunky affair and the goody bag is decent but you have certainly paid for it. There is a technical t shirt to collect at the end, though for some reason there was a significant queue for this in 2019.

There are thousands of runners each year for this race, though I personally prefer the Winter 10K route, this is fast and flat race worth checking out at least once.
