This is simply stunning .
Registration in Llanberis was a breeze , you get your race number , tech T and some hi-5 goodies and a Marathon booklet
Races starts at 10.30 .. the first mile or so is flat ... then you start the climb up Pen y pas ... the views are amazing , after reaching the top you then descend on part trail , part road .. this section also has a raucous crowd which was fantastic .. the race continues with undulations and a few flat section through some lovely villiages where everybody is out cheering you through ! A lot of the course is on open roads , however the marshals control the traffic brilliantly , it also helps that nobody drives like an idiot !
22 miles in , enjoy the wonderful scenery you suddenly hit the hill .. this is some hill pretty much 2 miles straight up .. it hurts ! At the top you are greeted with the mad hatters tea party which is amazing .. tea biscuits , cakes and beer is waiting for you !!
Then with 2 mile to go , you have to decend... this isn’t an easy zig zag it’s straight down . On wet grass .. great fun !!
Once at the bottom you turn right into Llanberis town centre to a wonderful reception , a slate coaster instead of a medal , a event running bottle with water in and free tea and biscuits .. also helpful is a pub right in the finish line !
This is a must do event it really is fantastic !
