← Thoresby Leaf Kick

Second time running Thoresby10 (The reverse route of Longhorn in the spring) and privileged to be the 1:25 pacer.

A beautiful location to run with a 5km,10km and Canicross option along with the 10 miler. Due to this, the atmosphere is inclusive and very layed back. Number collection was easy and there were a few stalls to pick up a coffee before pacing duties started.

Meeting up with fellow pacers as we discussed the ‘road or trail’ shoe dilemma. Normally roads are absolutely fine on this trail run as 80% is on hard, gravel or farm access roads. However, the rain this week gave it some doubt as it was muddy in places. I stuck with road shoes but glad I brought both with me.

The route is beautiful through woodland, farmland and countryside. The 10 mile route was same as the 10km but with an added loop in the middle. Very well marshalled and signposted. No fears of going the wrong way.

Drinks stations were frequent enough and urged you to fill up your own bottle to save on plastic wastage. A great touch.

The god gets lost in the trees so the course measures a little long but only fractionally and it didn’t spoil from anyone’s experience, even those PB chasing.

The medal was great. In true SBR style they like to do something different. This one spins. Banana, crisps at the finish line. T-shirt’s etc are at extra cost.

Brilliant event and one I’ll definitely return to.
