My 1st marathon!
I was lucky to win a free place a for the run and was offered a VIP experience.
Online registration was easy and there was plenty of pre race information available.
An easy route to follow. Starting at the university and running past the Minister and then out into the countryside through villages. Returning into York and back to university to finish.
Marshals were great and very supportive on the course.
Spectators on the course were brilliant. Many people in the streets of York but it was quieter out in the countryside. In villages and at junctions and corners there was still great support.
A lovely tee and big medal at the finish along with a decent goodie bag and a free non alcoholic beer.
Quick results service through text message and online.
My wife followed me and a load of other runners on the tracking app and she said it worked well.
Not sure what the event village was like as spent most of our time in the VIP area.
Found a good pub on the uni to have a pint or two with friends after the run.
Really enjoyed the run (even if it was a bit more hilly than I expected) and the whole race day experience.
