I entered Yorkshire marathon at the very last minute - maybe 8 hours before entries closed. Totally worth it! It was an incredible experience running through York city centre and the surrounding Yorkshire countryside. The organisation was outstanding and all the volunteers did an excellent job. The crowd support was great in the areas that were easily accessible to the public. The water stations were all well stocked with water, energy gels and local residents were handing out sweets. Bag drop was available in the race village however I left my bag at the hotel I stayed at so didn't use the facility. The course is an out and back course with the start/finish at the University of York. The university is in Heslington which is fair hike from the city centre so I would suggest planning your route there and back if staying in the city centre. I didn't and thought it would be easy to get there but it turned out to be a 30 minute walk and Uber is not easily available there.

I would defintely recommend the Yorkshire marathon to everyone - it is a great event and York is a beautiful city.
