5th year on the bounce for me and still my favourite HM ever. 20,000+ runners, double the amount of spectators and Run4Wales organise it with perfection every year considering there’s a huge amount of runners. Turn up early to park is my only advice, as that many runners and spectators in the city make it hard if you turn up late. The registration process is easy and emails leading up to the race keep you well informed. Always a great medal, the T-shirt this year was so much better than last years grey monstrosity and they had x-small which fits perfectly!

The race starts outside Cardiff castle, with a few minutes gap in between each pen, making it easier for runners not to overcrowd the streets. Fire, TV cameras and non stop cheering crowds can’t help but get you excited.
It’s a great fast, near flat course, slight gradient at 3 miles and 12 miles. Running across the barrage and into Cardiff bay is fabulous and the highlight of roath park is the old people’s home who come out and cheer you all on. It is truly heartwarming. Non stop crowds and cheering all the way round the route. Plenty of marshalls, every single one of them full of energy and cheering you on. Only downside is there’s nowhere near enough toilets for everyone but apart from that, it is the Half marathon of all Half marathons. Well done Run4Wales on another superb event. I’ve Lreasy metered again for next year.
