This was my first time taking part in the swim series and my first time swiming more than a mile in open water. Overall I enjoyed the event, but have listed feedback below.
Signage to the swim registration from the temporary car parks were clear, but it felt odd to be so far away from the excitement of the triathlon finish area so there was essentially no atmosphere.. Registration itself was ok, but quite confused as not clear which line to join and wasnt particularly quick moving - unsure why packs couldnt be sent out in advance. Changing tents were far too small for the number of swimmers and after the event it would be good to have the option of a shower. Bag drop tents were also quite cramped.
Pre-race briefing was well done and clear. I found most of the course easy to follow, but similar to other comments, the buoy after the river exit was not clear and I had to ask a kayaker for directions else would have just swum to next visible buoy. The worst part for me was the number of reeds in the river section (even in the centre of the course) especially when wrapped over your face. I have also had a couple of days off work with illness since the swim.
Finally, the post race treats table could do with being clearer and better stocked.
