A busy and well attended 10k. Billed as quick and potential PB - yes I’d agree if start was better organised (come back to that).
Organised and well managed. Plenty of parking even in a small town. Extra toilets put on to cope with demand and well signposted to the the start pens. Now this is my only issue with the event. And it’s the same one as their Half Marathon in March. The starting pens are wide and busy. Not very well ‘managed’ by start times and local runners know to get a good time they need to get off quick so generally everyone starts too far forward. This would be manageable on a wide starting first km but within 100m you are walking and stopping as the route goes narrow bartenders gates only 2/3 people wide. Not the best.
However, that said, once you are past the 1km marker, the route is free and fully closed so you can spread out.
Route is through town and industrial parts. Not scenic but nothing too bad. Takes in the local ‘Isabel Trail’ parkrun route which is cycle track before leading back into town.
Good quality medal and T-shirt. Nothing else in form of a goody bag. Water and banana as standard.
