For an event this size you kn ow you are likely to get something well organised. All info up to the event was great, access to the start was well labelled and a lot of people on hand to help you with any questions. 

The race itself is mainly along dual carriageways so not much natural beauty, however the other runners and spectators make up for any atmosphere lost from running on a straight road for a couple of hours. 

Onloy gripe is other runners starting at the front who walk after a few yards. I had a fall early on when a group of four stopped suddenly in front of me, and there should be encouragement for anyone walking to stick to the sides of the road. Seems common sense for regular runners, but understandable that first timers may not be aware of issues this causes. 

Overall a great weekend up in newcastle, lots to see in terms of mini-marathon events throughout Saturday on the Quayside too, and one I will be looking to do again next year.
