This was my 2nd time doing the South Cheshire 20. This year i was determined to finush without walking. The course is hilly and between miles 8 and 11 it will test you. If you get the first half of the race wrong then you'll definitely pay later on.

As this is a local event it's not chip timed or expensive but is a great route. It's also perfect timing for any late autumn marathons

The food stations are about every 3 to 4 miles and they mainly contain water with the odd one being juice.

When you get to the finish there is a bag waiting for you containing a pack of oats, some alcohol free beer and a gingerbread man. There was also a t-shirt but I must have missed where they were handing them out no

This is a value for money event with no fuss and if you don't mind open roads then get entered. I didn't at any time feel unsafe.
